Hello everybody! I've been very busy this past month (as always) and not had time to blog or sit and mooch on the internet, so as it is today officially SPRING, and St Davids Day I thought I would have a little competition to celebrate, and what better prize that my new daffodil brooch which I finished at the weekend!
These brooches will soon be available in my Folksy Shop and make great spring gifts. Mothers Day, Easter alternatives to chocolate, and just a lovely treat to cheer yourself up after the grey winter months!
To win one of your very own, all you need to do is (if you haven't already) click to follow my blog, tweet about this competition, and leave a comment below telling me what your favourite flower is, and why! You never know, one day it might even be immortalised in felt! The competition ends on Sunday 7th March at 12pm. Good luck!
I have to say I have a soft spot for Daffs as my fav flower. Oh and violets as they were my nans favourite.
ReplyDeleteLove the brooch btw x
I'm following your blog.
ReplyDeleteI retweeted your comp @Seriouslykooky
My favourite flower is the tulip. My nan used to have bunches of them regularly filling vases in her bungalow. Whenever she was ill I'd take her a bunch and when she died I placed some on her coffin. Now, whenever I have tulips I think of her.
I like Carnations because they don't make me sneeze! Your lovely Daffy brooch wouldn't make me sneeze either, and the competition ends on my birthday! I wonder if I will get an extra prezzie this year.....!

My favourite is snakeshead fritillary (though I'm not sure of the spelling!)
ReplyDeletewe have some in a pot in the garden and they look so pretty waving around in the breeze in the late spring.

Hello! I love this brooch, so bright, just like today's sunshine - sooo welcome!
ReplyDeleteI'm following and have re-tweeted from @spottedbikini
My favourite flower is a Mesembryanthemum because the colours are so juicy. Last summer, my husband and I sat out in the garden one morning and watched them ping open as they slurped up the sun - one of my favourite moments of 2009.

What a fabulously bright daff! I have so many favourite flowers but one that always amazes me is Dicentra, better known as Bleeding Heart. They last for ages and start off as perfect little hearts then the sides of the heart turn up and reveal a bit that looks like a drip of blood - beautiful. Off to tweet now (@thesockgarden) x
ReplyDeleteIt actually IS the daffodil - the harbinger of spring for me. It's the smell I particularly love - because it's not sickly sweet but fresh!
ReplyDeleteHowever, if you can't manage to 'felt' the smell, the sight of one is enough for me!!! / Jane (PIDGEONSTITCH) x
My favourites are lily, I love the Stargazers but think it must be the Cala as thats what I had in my wedding bouquet, but also I love the old fashioned roses, as I love the fresh, sweet scent, Sister Elizabeth is beautiful

The freesia is the flower for me. Elegantly fragile with a bewitching fragrance.

Its the peony for me... such a beautiful old fashioned looking flower. It reminds me of my childhood, as my mum grew loads of them in her garden.

How lovely, I am following you now, have tweeted this blog comp and I would have to say my favourite flower would be a tulip because they come in so many gorgeous colours, Clare x
ReplyDeleteMy fave flower is the bird of paradise.
ReplyDeleteI'm now a follower and have tweeted about the giveaway ( @CHCeramics )
good luck everyone!
ONe of my favourites are Lisianthus - hey come in such pretty colours and have an evocative fairy-like quality to them. had them at my wedding.
ReplyDeleteI love Lisianthus! I had them in my wedding bouquet!
ReplyDeleteI love Gerberas and Tulips and Poppies! Red poppies. Pink Gerberas and just tulips in general! Oh and snowdops, forget me nots, daisies, roses and daffodils - too many!! If I had to pick one I'd say... daisies - pure and simple and pretty :)
ReplyDeletePersonally it'd have to be (singly) Lily of the Valley, which is so beautiful and delicate and smells amazing. But really flowers look beautiful in amongst grasses and other plants, on vines, in hedgerows and on trees. Hard to choose, in other words. :D
ReplyDeleteits got to be the beautiful BLUEBELL... here for such a short time, very special and unforgettable. Also, they are a colour that is so hard to recreate... I am sure you could do a fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteI used to be a florist so it's hard to say just one favourite!! I really love all spring flowers as it's the sign of brighter warmer days ahead :) i'm gonna say that my favourite flower is the casablanca lily....though it might be smething different next week! hehe.
ReplyDeleteoff to tweet right now....@lissionline x
My favourite is Sunflowers, although Daffs are great too. Anything nice and sunny yellow :) I'm following and retweeting too as missielizzieb

ReplyDeleteI love daffs and always get a bunch for my birthday in Feb, I grow lots as well, it make my house and garden very pretty.
I love buttercups, they remind me of meadows and bambi like deer, we had loads of them growing in our garden at our last house, we haven't spotted any since we moved but they are such a happy little flower. It's a shame they are so small, I'm not likely to receive a bunch of buttercups now am I lol!
